In the period from June 2020 to August 2021, Kirchner Energietechnik GmbH researched and developed the fundamentals for the emission-free power plant process with liquid CO₂ capture and processes for the production of climate-neutral hydrogen. The company is run by the two brothers Dr Wolfgang Kirchner (PhD in physics) and Dipl.-Ing. Hans walter Kirchner. Based on many years of experience in the field of energy technology, the Kirchner brothers founded the company Kirchner Energietechnik GmbH in 2020. 

In August 2021, the company began planning the construction of a pilot plant for a climate-neutral CHP unit in 2022 with the support of funding from the "Central Innovation Programme for SMEs" of the Federal Ministry of Economics. Kirchner Energietechnik GmbH is also working very closely with the research institute of the "Energy Process Engineering" department at Dresden University of Technology. Parallel to the planning of the pilot plant, the company continues to search for suitable suppliers and cooperation partners for the further technical development of the process.
