Biogas plants in CCS technology

To find out how CCS technology works in biogas plants, see our digital magazine:

We have been working on CCS technology for several years and last year - with support from federal funding and in close cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden - we developed the fundamentals for liquid CO2 capture from gas mixtures and the processing of CO2 for underground storage.

The upgrading of biogas is known to be necessary before it can be injected into the natural gas grid. Our technology for liquid CO2 separation from gas mixtures offers a solution for this without any increase in costs, with which a double success can be achieved:

  • on the one hand, the separation of pure biomethane for feeding into the natural gas grid, and
  • secondly, the separation of liquid CO2 for underground storage.
